Clinical Guidance: Nurturing Future Cardiologist Through How to Session

Exploring practical approaches to bradyarrhythmia, AF anticoagulation, ECG interpretation, and ICD shock management at A...

The How-To Sessions provided a practical component of the scientific program, addressing clinically relevant challenges in the recognition, diagnosis, and management of arrhythmias in daily practice.

How-To Session 7: Bradyarrhythmias: When to Worry, When to Reassure, moderated by Kiky Rizky, MD, focused on the systematic assessment of bradyarrhythmias. Tommy Daindes, MD, PhD, presented “Dangerous Bradycardia: Recognizing the Warning Signs,” followed by Setiawan Widodo, MD, who discussed “Drug-Induced Bradycardia: Recognition and Management.” The session concluded with Alice Inda Supit, MD, presenting “Bradycardia in Athletes: Physiological vs Pathological,” emphasizing the distinction between physiological adaptation and pathological bradycardia.

The program continued with How-To Session 8: Anticoagulation in AF: Who, When, and How to Choose It Safely, moderated by Farial Indra, MD, and Reynold Agustinus, MD. Andi Renata Bastario, MD, discussed CHA₂DS₂-VASc and other considerations in determining the need for anticoagulation. Beny Hartono, MD, addressed anticoagulation in valvular AF, followed by Sebastian Andy Manurung, MD, who discussed cardioversion and anticoagulation in light of current evidence.

How-To Session 9: Decoding Device ECGs and Reports in Everyday Practice, moderated by Tiya Setiadi, MD, adopted a case-based approach. Andrianus Oktovianto, MD; Yoga Waranugraha, MD; and Haryadi, MD presented three cases highlighting practical interpretation of device ECGs and reports, including a case involving permanent pacemaker implantation.

The final session, How-To Session 10: Managing ICD Shocks in the ER and Clinics, was moderated by Lim Sothearith, MD, and Rizky Aulia Fanani, MD. Agung Fabian Chandranegara, MD, discussed the initial management of ICD shocks in the emergency setting, followed by Aruman Yudanto, MD, who addressed appropriate and inappropriate ICD shocks. The program concluded with Chaerul Achmad, MD, PhD, discussing programming strategies to reduce ICD shocks.
